FRP and Mold Release wax releasing agent
PASTEWAX is formulated with synthetic waxes and high heat resistant resins for easy release of most FRP &plastic parts thru multiple cycles
Directions:
Mold preparation involves 3 process: cleaning, sealing &release.
This procedure applies to new, used and reconditioned molds prior to placing them in production.
Cleaning:
Step 1: Wash entire mold with soap and water , use FK’s #118SC, Shampoo Concentrate. Rinse and wipe dry.
Step 2: Apply EITHER FK’s #135-80, mold cleaner&wax remover or #69 liquid cleaner&stripper with terry cloth applicator by wetting the surface thoroughly. Agitate and wipe while wet to remove the residues. Do not use rice paper. Please note #135-80 is a better cleaner than 69#.
Step 3: Reapply #135-80 or 69#, allow it to dry thoroughly and wipe off the film. At this point surface should be friction free, bright and shiny.
SEALING:
Step 4: Apply one coat of FK’s #86, seal kote, allow it to dry thoroughly for 30 minutes and wipe gently.
Step 5: Apply 3 more coats of 86# in similar manner and allow it to dry then wipe gently. Let is set for a minimum of 1 hour to allow polymer to set and bond to the mold. Wipe lightly with soft clean cloth for a nice shine.
RELEASE:
Step 6: Apply an even coat of paste wax with applicator supplied, allow it to dry thoroughly&wipe gently with clean cloth. Use a minimum of five coats total. Allowing each coat to dry prior tp wiping it gently so as not to remove the wax. After first parts is released, re-wax once more with the paste wax, allow it to dry and wipe gently. At this point , multiple releases are possible without re-waxing.
Some people use FK’s #1000L in between each release as added insurance-we agree with this practice.
Note: To prevent excessive wax build up and as a routine preventive mold maintenance program, periodically use a coat of FK’s #1000L in between each release as added insurance-we agree with this practice, use a coat of FK’s #1000L, liquid mold release to envenly distribute the wax and smooth out the mold release surface. If hazing or dullness appears, clean the mold with FK’s #69.
FK’s paste wax, #1000L liquid wax and either #135-80 or 69#.
