Introduction to the Butanox M-50
Butanol M-50 is a general purpose methyl ethyl ketone Peroxide, or MEKP, commonly used at room temperature and high temperatures for curing unsaturated resins. The M-50/ Cobalt Accelerator curing system is particularly suitable for curing paints and castings, laminates, gelcoat resins, varnishes and Resin pours, in addition, as opposed to benzoyl peroxide/amine accelerator curing systems, can be used to make light resistant components. Combined with years of practical experience, butanol M-50 has low water content and is a non-polar compound. This peroxide is ideal for GRP products, such as shipbuilding.

Thermal stability of Butanol M-50
Butanol M-50 is thermally unstable and will undergo self-accelerating decomposition. The self-accelerating decomposition temperature is the lowest possible temperature at which a substance can produce self-accelerating decomposition in the packaging of gas used for transportation. Due to its relatively unstable performance, there will be a certain mass loss during storage for a period of time. In order to minimize this loss, the maximum storage temperature is required to be 25° C.
